Come on Barbie Let's Go Party!

The Barbie movie just came out, so everywhere you turn there is Barbie merch or pink clothes as it seems like all stores are jumping on the bandwagon.  I set up a date for my monthly dinner girls and our daughters to attend, and we had a great time.  I followed this with using Barbie as my theme for our monthly dinner. So yes, I jumped on the bandwagon too!

Invite: Lots of pink and of course a large blond Barbie adorned the invitation.  Along with the party details, I added the Barbie logo as well as the quote "Every Night is Girls Night" from the movie.

Decorations:  A bright pink tablecloth, white and pink plates, and a Barbie centerpiece made up my table.  I borrowed Barbies and accessories from a friend of mine to set out as a centerpiece.  She had the Barbie corvette, the Barbie boat with mermaid Barbie, Barbie's dog, and many of the clothes & accessories.  I purchased the poolside lounger and table at Dollar Tree to place one of the Barbies on.

For placecards, I made Barbie boxes for each guest with their names on them.  I found the template for the box on Etsy.  I found the Barbie font online as well (I had to sign up for a free trial & then my card will be charged if I don't cancel).  These boxes take some time to assemble, but I only had to make 8 of them, so it wasn't too bad.  I glued a background with the Barbie logo inside the back wall of the box.  Then added a glitter shape & the Barbie head logo to the front of the box instead of Mattel.  Inside the box, I placed a pair of pink heart-shaped sunglasses & a pink candy stick.

For napkins, I folded a paper napkin, used my Cricut to cut out a Barbie head and sticker shape.  I bought bright pink plastic silverware at the Dollar Tree and placed those inside.

I placed a Barbie RV on my side table (again borrowed), and used it to elevate some of the favor purses. I also borrowed a Barbie beach ball cup to make the "O" of my HOME sign.

As usual, I had fun creating my wine labels to match the Barbie theme.  For the red wine, I found an image of a Barbie and added a wine bottle like she was pouring wine into a glass.  The text read, "Wow...The Wine Bottle Actually Pours."  I love in the movie when Barbie goes to pour the milk and she is surprised that it actually pours!  For the white wine, I found an image of Ken and added the text, "Can't get KENOUGH White Wine."

For wine charms, I printed out small symbols that go with Barbie.  Things like a pink lipstick, a pink purse, a pink high heel, a neon roller skate, a Barbie corvette, etc.

Menu: I tried to think of pink food to serve for this party, but didn't want to use a ton of dye.  I started with a Barbie-que tri-tip smoked with just a little pink center.  Then I made a rose (the wine) butter sauce which turns out pink to drizzle over the top.  The recipe for the rose butter sauce, I found here.  It doesn't look as pink in my photos, but it was pink.

One side dish was mini red potatoes.  Not pink, but close enough.  Easy to make a delicious with a little Montreal Steak Seasoning.

I also served asparagus with a pink butter.  I used a chocolate mold to shape the butter into small hearts.  I would suggest spraying the mold with vegetable oil as they were slightly sticking to the mold a bit when I tried to remove them.

To add a fruit, I served pink watermelon. I bought a small watermelon to carve out to use like a ball gown on a Barbie.  I wrapped a formal dressed Barbie in saran wrap from the waist down so the watermelon juices and rind didn't touch her gown at all.  To cover the saran wrap at the very top, I wrapped some red glitter ribbon around her waist and secured it with pink push pins.

For dessert, I made heart-shaped pink waffles like Barbie eats in the movie.  I served the waffle heart with a scoop of strawberry ice cream and a pink chocolate heart.

Favor: As a parting gift for my guests, I made purses out of cardstock. I used patterned pink paper for the purse and patterned yellow and blue paper to make the bows. I cut everything out with my Cricut machine, folded/glued, and then used a small Velcro circle to close the purse flap. Inside each purse, I had pink wafer cookies and pink Starburst candies for guests.

I was never a Barbie fan growing up, but this really was a fun theme to create with the buzz of the movie going on. Hop on the bandwagon, and host a Barbie party to jump in on the fun!
